If you’re itching to test your limits in 3D modeling and printing, superhero costumes are an excellent place to start. All the armor, helmets, and weapons offer a variety of ways to push your skills and your 3D printer. Redditor drumguy560 used 3D printing to craft this replica of Black Panther’s helmet from Captain America: Civil War. He modeled the helmet mostly in Zbrush and went through a third party service to print it. Once the pieces were done — it was printed in two pieces — he had to do a lot sanding and clean-up before assembly and painting. He used “spray max 1k trim paint, urethane clear, and spaz stix mirror chrome” to finish the helmet.
You can see what the helmet looks like before paint just below. Drumguy560’s Instagram account has more photos to drool over.
