Cool, but terrifying project from artist Dima Yarovinsky.
Nice write-up from designboom.
according to the designer, the average person reads at a rate of 200 words per minute while a standard ‘terms of service’ agreement contains 11.972 words which means that even if a user did attempt to read the terms before agreeing to them, it would take approximately 60 minutes. the terms were printed using standard legal contract font size and typeface, and hung on the academy’s gallery space, while the project is on show during aalto university’s visualizing knowledge conference in finland. pointing out that these terms are actual legal contracts between the user and the online service provider, yarovinsky’s ‘I agree’ project visualizes the contractual obligations users agree to when subscribing for a free or paid service/app.
