This Sci-fi wand is an original design and is #2 in my 10″ Desk Weapon series.
The Grey Matteforge Matte PLA used to print this design was provided by Printed Solid:
https://www.printedsolid.com/This wand has a thin center portion, so I made a 2.4mm hole to allow reinforcement. I used Ook 14 gauge wire:
https://www.homedepot.com/p/OOK-14-Gauge-x-100-ft-Galvanized-Steel-Wire-50142/100200924The wire can be easily straightened using a block of wood and a drill. Just search YouTube for “straighten wire control rods” to find a great video showing how to do this.
I have included a STEP file in the downloads for easy customization.

Every Thursday is #3dthursday here at Adafruit! The DIY 3D printing community has passion and dedication for making solid objects from digital models. Recently, we have noticed electronics projects integrated with 3D printed enclosures, brackets, and sculptures, so each Thursday we celebrate and highlight these bold pioneers!
Have you considered building a 3D project around an Arduino or other microcontroller? How about printing a bracket to mount your Raspberry Pi to the back of your HD monitor? And don’t forget the countless LED projects that are possible when you are modeling your projects in 3D!
