Tesla Model 3 Vent Clip Phone Stand #3DThursday #3DPrinting

With the spartan interior of the M3 it was difficult to find a way to rest my phone on the dash. The revolutionary air vent technology is amazing, however it is not compatible with any commercial phone vent mounts out there. I did search thingiverse after making my thingie and found a Heads up Display version which also looks like an interesting solution.

I started in Tinkercad with this phone stand (remixed) which looked big enough to fit my phone and wallet sleeve. About 10 printed iterations later (designed with caliper and trial/error) I came up this phone stand. It clips into the bottom vent holes securely anywhere along the dashboard.

I would be interested if anyone could re-mix this design to make a phone mount or associate it with a modular mounting system. Also the clip seems secure enough to hang a bag from.

Every Thursday is #3dthursday here at Adafruit! The DIY 3D printing community has passion and dedication for making solid objects from digital models. Recently, we have noticed electronics projects integrated with 3D printed enclosures, brackets, and sculptures, so each Thursday we celebrate and highlight these bold pioneers!

Have you considered building a 3D project around an Arduino or other microcontroller? How about printing a bracket to mount your Raspberry Pi to the back of your HD monitor? And don’t forget the countless LED projects that are possible when you are modeling your projects in 3D!
