We are totally loving this design concept from Japanese global printing company Toppan, recently featured on designboom.
toppan has used paper for the body of the tube container to reduce the amount of plastic by 50%, while it is possible to minimize it even further by reviewing the plastic parts of the head. though the amount of plastic used may lessen, by utilizing the stiffness of the paper, a firm shape can be maintained even if the content decreases. in addition, the process of folding the body into an envelope reduces the elasticity when gripping the body, making the contents easier to squeeze than conventional laminated tubes. furthermore, by horizontally designing the plastic part of the spout, compared to the conventional laminated tube, it is easier to squeeze the contents to the end.
