Rogue Captive Portal for Raspberry Pi @Raspberry_Pi #PiDay #RaspberryPi

Screen Shot 2019 01 30 at 11 40 18 AM

Interesting project from braindead-sec up on GitHub.

This is a simple website and set of configuration files that turns a Raspberry Pi Zero W (or other Pi with WiFi) into a rogue access point named “Google Free Wi-Fi.” It spoofs a captive portal that looks like the Google Account login page, however authentication always fails and the credentials are logged to a text file.

It was designed to demonstrate the simplicity of offline credential grabbing and to educate about wireless security. Using this for malicious purposes is against the author’s intent and could lead to prosecution under privacy laws.

Guitar Boy @Raspberry_Pi #PiDay #RaspberryPi

This is a thing of beauty. Best of all, for me, is the way the A and B buttons don’t just control the Game Boy; they’re also volume and tone dials.

The build uses the guts of a real guitar. Fibbef, the maker, who created the Guitar Boy for the BitFix Gaming 2015 Game Boy Classic build-off, built his own guitar body with a screen and rammed a Raspberry Pi running the RetroPie games emulator in there, ending up with a functional guitar that’s also a functional (giant) hand-held gaming device.

Raspberry Pi Bitcoin Tracker #piday #raspberrypi @Raspberry_Pi

From Jonathanrjpereira on Instructables:

Around a year ago, I came across this post on r/bitcoin that talked about building a Bitcoin Clock across the street from the famous NYC Debt Clock. But instead of counting up like the debt clock, the Bitcoin Clock would count down how many bitcoin remains to be mined. This got me thinking.

Tracktion, responsible for synth software BioTek 2, ran their product on a Raspberry Pi, and Lucem fitted this Pi and associated tech inside the hollow body of a through-neck Visceral guitar. The concept guitar made its debut at NAMM 2019 last weekend, where attendees at the National Association of Music Merchants event had the chance to get hands-on with the new instrument.
