DIY Raspberry Pi UPS – An Uninterrupted Power Supply to Keep your Pi Safe during Power Failure @Raspberry_Pi #PiDay #RaspberryPi

Raspberry Pi UPS

Great project write-up by Sourav Gupta up on CircuitDigest.

To save the Pi during uncertain power falls or unintended shutdowns, a UPS can be constructed, same as the UPS backups which are used in our home or offices. Here in this project, we will make the RPI UPS power supply that could provide sufficient time to save the code in RPi as well as this can be used as a separate power supply unit for backup also. We have built this project on PCB and have used PCBWay to fabricate the boards for this project. In the following sections of the article, we have covered in detail the complete procedure to design, order, and assemble the PCB boards for this Raspberry Pi UPS Hat from PCBWay so that you can also easily build one on your own. So let’s get started.

How To Use CircuitPython on a Raspberry Pi #piday #raspberrypi @Raspberry_Pi

EQWfPwLY4nbn4R5sYCeesW 970 80

A couple simple projects from Les Pounder on Tom’s Hardware demonstrating the power of CircuitPython on the Rasperry Pi:

CircuitPython can also be used on the Raspberry Pi and via two projects we introduce how to use CircuitPython with the Raspberry Pi. The first project is the humble LED, controlling how to blink an LED enables us to understand how we communicate and control components. The second project involves using additional components connected to the GPIO via a jumper wire to Stemma QT connector.

CircuitPython on the Raspberry Pi is transferable to other devices, such as Adafruit’s QT Py RP2040, Feather RP2040 and Pimoroni’s Keybow 2040, along with the Raspberry Pi Pico. So the skills learned here are applicable to any board that can run CircuitPython

Ghostbusters PKE Meter 8 Steps with Pictures Instructables

Track down ghosts with this super authentic PKE meter. If you were a fan of the show growing up, you remember how vital this tool was. From Starscream205 on Instructables:

There was one cartoon in particular that seems to dominate my childhood memories and that was The Real Ghostbusters. Ray, Winston, Peter and Egon were armed to the teeth with really cool gadgets, among them the PKE meter. This was my favourite of all their tech and it basically detected the ghosts they were trying to hunt.

What I am going to do is make my own fully functional PKE meter.

Custom Raspberry Pi Pico-powered WiFi Temperature Sensor #piday #raspberrypi @Raspberry_Pi

David Booth shared their custom temperature sensor using MQTT and CircuitPython.

via raspberry pi pod and micro:bit base

A custom, low power temperature sensor powered by a Raspberry Pi Pico with an LCD display and WiFi connectivity for integration into an MQTT home automation hub.

For a number of years now, I’ve been wanting to monitor room temperatures across my house to assess the effect of multiple heating sources and insulation efficiency. Best practice would dictate that I have multiple sensors running in parallel to get data points that are relative to one another. For multiple sensors to be running constantly, I’d prefer it to be low powered and low cost to maximise the number of units I can have in the setup. For ease of setup, it would be preferable for each unit to be wireless to allow temperature data collection to be performed in a single location and for each unit to only require a power connection.

The Kay-Berlin Food Computer @Raspberry_Pi #PiDay #RaspberryPi

“Food Computer” may be a bit misleading as a description for this project. The machine is less like a computing machine made from tasty snacks, and more like a fully-automated plant growth station. Here’s more from Raspberry Pi Blog:

“It is a fully automated growth chamber that can monitor over a dozen atmospheric and root zone variables and post them to an online dashboard for remote viewing,” Chris Regini tells us. He’s supervising both Noahs in this project. “In addition to collecting data, it is capable of adjusting fan speeds based on air temperature and humidity, dosing hydroponic reservoirs with pH adjustment and nutrient solutions via peristaltic pumps, dosing soil with water based on moisture sensor readings, adjusting light spectra and photoperiods, and capturing real-time and time-lapsed footage using a [Raspberry Pi] Camera Module NoIR in both daylight and night-time growth periods.”
