Fan-Light Controller 2 #3DPrinting #3DThursday

Fan Light Controller 2 by wisestone Thingiverse
wisestone shared this project on Thingiverse!

To control my 3D printer cabinet extraction fans and lights, I’ve designed a simple control panel.

The control panel functions include:
Enclosure light: On/off switch, brightness control knob

Webcam Light: On/off switch, brightness control knob

Extraction Fan: On/off switch, air flow control knob

Every Thursday is #3dthursday here at Adafruit! The DIY 3D printing community has passion and dedication for making solid objects from digital models. Recently, we have noticed electronics projects integrated with 3D printed enclosures, brackets, and sculptures, so each Thursday we celebrate and highlight these bold pioneers!

Have you considered building a 3D project around an Arduino or other microcontroller? How about printing a bracket to mount your Raspberry Pi to the back of your HD monitor? And don’t forget the countless LED projects that are possible when you are modeling your projects in 3D!

Rain Barrel Downspout Diverter – Single Output #3DThursday #3DPrinting

Rain Barrel Downspout Diverter Single Output by mphamel Thingiverse

Manage the downspout flow better with this print from mphamel on Thingiverse:

This is a modification of the great design from @varnerrants. To allow for printing just one outlet for a single rain barrel.

The overall design is slightly shorter with an additional 1mm on the downspout ends to be a bit more forgiving

The one thing that is different from my print (pictured) to the file provided here is that I rotated the hose barb 180 degrees to improve ability to cleanly print the hose barb starting with the wider downspout end at the bottom.

I am no expert, this was largely a couple items commented out and a couple parameter tweaks, SCAD file is included so you can tweak to meet your needs.

Main deep compartments are to house paintbrushes, middle compartment to house small sponges, and misc paints in use.

Flip-open door can be opened to hold wet paintbrushes while painting, small hiding space in the back can be used to store sponges when not in use.

Phone Walker #3DPrinting #3DThursday

Jacks-Filament shared this project on Thingiverse!

Hi,

i was recently looking for a cool phone stand for my new s9+. But couldn’t find one that i liked.

So i came up with the idea of designing my own one.

I used Ferjerez Trash Walker as a base.
Because lets be honest, his legs are just a beautiful piece of art 😀

New Guide: Build a Shadow Box Internet Clock with NeoPixel Visualization

Check out the latest guide from Erin St. Blaine: build a custom shadow box with multiple paper layers. Add an Adafruit MagTag and a strip of NeoPixels to light it up with a beautiful color palette. This is a pretty magical project, but the real magic happens behind the scenes with MagTag’s wifi interface. The MagTag connects to a data feed that enables it to show a real-time clock. Each day at sunset and sunrise, the NeoPixels will slowly shift through a lovely sunset color palette before settling on a daytime animation in the morning or a night time starry sky animation after dark.

From the guide:

Make a custom shadow box with multiple paper layers, stacked within a frame lined with NeoPixels LED lights. The light shining between the layers creates a gorgeous colorful depth to your artwork.

This tutorial takes this art form a step further with the addition of a WiFi-enabled MagTag E-Ink display. The CircuitPython code connects to the internet over WiFi and receives a real time clock / calendar feed for your location and automatically sets the clock on the MagTag display.

The real magic happens with the NeoPixel visualization code. At sunrise each day your pixels will light up with a beautiful sunrise color palette. When day breaks, your pixels will transition to a lovely daytime color palette, and then fade through a sunset palette into a starry night as the sun sets.

It’s the perfect accessory for a Smart home – a custom, handmade piece of artwork that suits the room at any time of day.
