Urban Art Mapping Research Project Hosts George Floyd and Anti-Racist Street Art and COVID-19 Street Art Databases

Hyperallergic published Hakim Bishara’s Mapping Anti-racist Street Art in Minneapolis and Worldwide back in April. You can contribute an image to the George Floyd & Anti-Racist Street Art database here or the Covid-19 Street Art database here. From Hyperallergic:

“Street art matters because it represents the voices of the community, often providing a counter-institutional perspective, and so a crowd-sourced archive is in keeping with the goals of this art form itself,” the team said. “People have used walls to claim space, tell their stories, express their anger, show their vision for the future: our goal is to amplify these voices and experiences and to make sure that these textual and visual messages are not erased.”

In geometry, a hypercube is an n-dimensional analogue of a square (n = 2) and a cube (n = 3). It is a closed convex figure consisting of groups of opposite parallel line segments aligned in each of the space’s dimensions, at right angles to each other.

It’s also known as tesseract. The tesseract is to the cube as the cube is to the square; or, more formally, the tesseract can be described as a regular convex 4-polytope whose boundary consists of eight cubical cells.

The Art of Unique Tears from Sasha R. Gregor #ArtTuesday

Sasha R. Gregor ‘s art project Lacrimosa is made of high magnification tears shed by family, friends, and even celebrities. Why? Emotional tears have so many proteins and hormones that the structure of the tear is affected. At high enough magnification, a tears is a unique as a fingerprint. Here’s more from Art the Science:

One day, I was surprised to find my girlfriend crying (nothing too serious, luckily). After reassuring her, the image came to mind of how the internal structure of that substance—the tear—was capable of symbolizing the affective and emotional capability of the human being.

With permission granted, I captured one of the tears that had spilled from her eyes with a microscope slide glass, and the next day, I went to the laboratory to solve the enigma. The surprise was great: the chemical composition of the tear (salts, proteins, lipids, hormones, etc.), together with the power of the photomicroscope and the epistemic character of light, revealed a wonderful landscape of shapes, geometries, and colors.

Testing out QT Py RP2040 with Xiao Extension Board

This Expansion board is designed for the Seeed Xiao, and since the QT Py is pin compatible we thought we’d try it out with the RP2040 QT Py we just released to see how it works with CircuitPython. The RP2040 has toooons more flash and RAM than the SAMD21 so it’s a great little add-on! There’s a 128×64 OLED, button, piezo beeper, battery charger and booster, SD card and RTC.

Lemon Mechanical Keypad

Make a custom USB-HID keypad in the shape of a citrus fruit. This keypad features six mechanical switches for controlling media players like Spotify, iTunes, YouTube, etc. Powered by the Adafruit QT Py RP2040 and CircuitPython.

Inside the case is a NeoPixel Jewel that slowly fades in and out making the keypad illuminate. The QT Py and NeoPixel are housed in a 3D printed case with parts that snap fit together.
