Scientists Translated a Spiderweb Into Music, And It’s Utterly Captivating #MusicMonday #SpiderMusic

Scientists Translated a Spiderweb Into Music And It s Utterly Captivating

Who knew spider webs sounded so eerie? Fascinating research into how spiderwebs are used for communication. There is also a VR experience that lets users interact with the 3D musical modals.

This research, the team says, will not only help them better understand the three-dimensional architecture of a spider’s web, but may even help us learn the vibrational language of spiders.

“The spider lives in an environment of vibrating strings,” engineer Markus Buehler of MIT explained in 2021. “They don’t see very well, so they sense their world through vibrations, which have different frequencies.”

Every Thursday is #3dthursday here at Adafruit! The DIY 3D printing community has passion and dedication for making solid objects from digital models. Recently, we have noticed electronics projects integrated with 3D printed enclosures, brackets, and sculptures, so each Thursday we celebrate and highlight these bold pioneers!

Have you considered building a 3D project around an Arduino or other microcontroller? How about printing a bracket to mount your Raspberry Pi to the back of your HD monitor? And don’t forget the countless LED projects that are possible when you are modeling your projects in 3D!

RP2040 Doom #piday #raspberrypi @Raspberry_Pi #piday #raspberrypi @Raspberry_Pi

In todays episode of “Does it Play Doom?” Kilograham on GitHub posted up a guide for playing Doom with a RP2040:

Given a new platform it is only natural to think of porting Doom to it. With 264K of RAM, two CortexM0+ CPUs and a decent clock speed, the RP2040 is certainly not the tightest platform Doom has ever been ported to – although at less than $1 it is probably one of the cheapest – so I wanted to set my self a more aggressive set of goals:

Installing NodeJS on the Raspberry Pi #piday #raspberrypi @Raspberry_Pi

via PiMyLifeUp

NodeJS is an open-source platform that allows you to run JavaScript outside of a web browser. It has quickly become popular amongst developers for command-line tools and server-side scripting to drive dynamic web pages.

Thanks to its event-driven architecture, it is a capable runtime that can achieve high throughput. Additionally, it uses the speedy V8 JavaScript engine, initially developed for the Chrome web browser.

A Fitness Tracker for Pets @Raspberry_Pi #PiDay #RaspberryPi

It’s fun to have pets, but they do demand a lot of attention. Yes, even cats. Responsible pet owners know that regular play and exercise isn’t just a fun part of owning a furry friend, it’s essential for mental and physical health. Here’s a project that will help track pet activity from Mithun Das via hackster.io:

Why should human have all the fitness trackers? Our pets deserve more to stay active. I am using XIAO BLE Sense which a tiny microcontroller which is equipped with a powerful Nordic nRF52840 MCU, designed in a Bluetooth 5.0 module, built around 32-bit ARM® Cortex™-M4 CPU. It has 6 Axis IMU which is used to predict the activity such as rest, walk and run.

InqSpeedRacer: A Web-Based Hot Wheel Speed Trap @Raspberry_Pi #PiDay #RaspberryPi

A true Hot Wheels play day involves what seems like  Kids would race their little die-cast cars as fast as they could. And now you can add a speed trap. Hot Wheels Here’s more via hackster.io:

InqSpeedRacer is a web-based electronic speed-trap for HotWheels®. The project was created for an 8th Grade Science class studying Physics of Motion topics. It is also a demonstrator of creating an InqPortal server that not only serves multiple clients, but the clients can connect to multiple servers. This can be easily used as a template for Home Automation. Creating multiple kinds of InqPortal “servers” that use sensors, relays and/or actuators to sense and control the environment. A client dashboard can be created to connect to all servers and monitor and control all servers.

See project!
