Get Out of NYC for Art and Changing Leaves This Fall

Hyperallergic published this fantastic list of exhibitions for the fall that’s perfect for all the art loving New Yorkers itching to get out of the city. This list covers shows in Upstate New York, Long Island, Connecticut, and New Jersey. Bonus gallery link to Hyperallergic‘s list, Distortion Society is a tattoo studio and art gallery in Beacon that has two exhibitions listed for this fall!

At the Thomas Cole National Historic Site, contemporary women artists including Cecilia Vicuña and Wendy Red Star respond to 19th-century painter Susie Barstow, whose work was inspired by the nearby Hudson River. Also along the Hudson River banks, the Hessel Museum of Art hosts the work of over 100 artists in an exploration of Native self-determination through performance art and theater. Elsewhere outside the city, pay a visit to Raven Halfmoon’s first solo show, the art of Syrian textiles, Tibetan thangkas, and more — and enjoy the fall scenery along the way.
