When You Want a Special Gift: Arduino Magical Amulets #WearableWednesday #Wearabletech #Arduino

After having watched a Hallmark show where the loved one receives all of the gifts from The Twelve Days of Christmas, these trinkets just seem refreshing. Maker Jack Jill created a special gift for a couple that combines Ipe wood with an Adafruit Neopixel ring and a Pro Trinket microcontroller. The result is a beautiful amulet, which creates different LED patterns with the push of a button, to protect the loved one from evil, danger or disease. It almost makes you wonder which pattern symbolizes which benefit on the amulet! The color choices of the Neopixels appear muted, working well with the natural tone of the wood. The video shows the design from start to finish, and Jack Jill mentions that there was “more engineering than expected.” I can imagine allowing room to stack the LiPo probably was challenging, but everything seems to fit like the perfect sandwich here. The only real question is whether this was a wedding present or merely a special holiday gift. Don’t you love all this mystery? Jack Jill, congratulations on imagining something so curious and beautiful. You may have inspired a whole new gift category for DIYers, so I’ll go ahead and just post our Neopixel Ring to get everyone started on their romantic project. ‘Tis the season of giving.
