When I was a prog rock-loving teen, I dreamed about building a synthesizer from a kit or owning a commercial model. I would drool over ads for Sequential Circuits and Arp synths in music magazines.
In this video, Allison of Bell Tone Synth Works shows off two (count ’em, TWO) Prophet 10 synths that she recently restored and added MIDI to.
She gives us a tour of the repairs and then demos the synths, MIDI-chained together, and running through a Hawk HE-2150 for some lovely stereo tape echo. 20 voices, 40 oscillators, big fun! It’s like playing four Prophet 5s at the same time.
