My son likes to sleep with some light. The problem is he’s having a hard time actually falling asleep if there’s too much light. He also likes Minecraft a lot, so I decided to make some Minecraft-themed night light for him. I found this lamp: https://ift.tt/70xFRUp and it struck me – I can combine it with a slightly too bright Ikea light. So I scaled the original lamp down, made a different base that accepts the Ikea light and it was too dim behind 8+ layers of translucent plastic. So I made the hollow version of the insert, which lights much brighter and actually illuminates a little bit of the room – just a perfect balance.

Every Thursday is #3dthursday here at Adafruit! The DIY 3D printing community has passion and dedication for making solid objects from digital models. Recently, we have noticed electronics projects integrated with 3D printed enclosures, brackets, and sculptures, so each Thursday we celebrate and highlight these bold pioneers!
Have you considered building a 3D project around an Arduino or other microcontroller? How about printing a bracket to mount your Raspberry Pi to the back of your HD monitor? And don’t forget the countless LED projects that are possible when you are modeling your projects in 3D!
