Twyla Baker-Demaray is a citizen the Hidatsa, Mandan, and Arikara Nation of Fort Berthold, North Dakota. In 2014 she was named the President of Fort Behold Community College.

Dr. Baker-Demaray is an enrolled citizen of the Mandan, Hidatsa, and Arikara Nation. She is an alumnus of FBCC, holds a Bachelor of Science degree in environmental geology and technology, a Master of Science degree in education, and a Ph.D. in teaching and learning research methodology. Prior to her appointment as president of FBCC, Dr. Baker-Demaray served as director of the National Resource Center on Native American Aging at the University of North Dakota before taking a position as vice president of student services at FBCC.
From student to president, Baker-Demaray completed the circle when the late Alyce Spotted Bear, former vice president of Indian studies at FBCC, recently contacted her. Spotted Bear asked if Baker-Demaray would be interested in returning to the college to serve as the dean of students. Citing her response as “one of the best decisions I’ve ever made,” Baker-Demaray returned home to the Fort Berthold reservation.
