How To Make Perfect Princess Leia Buns

princess-leia-wig-1

Princess Leia’s iconic buns from Star Wars: A New Hope aren’t the easiest to replicate unless you have naturally long hair. The rest of us have to obtain a wig and style it to match the hairdo. Instructables user Pris Nexus 6 made a Leia wig and strove to make it match the one seen in the film. She used a wig, a wig cap, a wig mannequin, brown thread, faux bun makers, and hot glue. The bun makers are key to getting the shape right. Pris Nexus 6 explains:

Take your fake bun makers and cut them in half. Each bun will have 5 of these cut bun makers in them (depending on the size) so make two piles.

Using brown thread that matches both the wig color and the bun makers, begin sewing the ends of the bun makers until you have a spiral. (if the color of the wig is the same as the bun makers, any gaps between the hair won’t look so obvious).

You can see the bun makers along with the wig hair in the picture below.
