Kitbashed Batgirl Costume

Redditor -Barbara-Gordon- started working on a Batgirl suit about a month ago, and though she splurged on the cowl, she mostly crafted the costume from items in her apartment. For example, she used a yoga mat she wasn’t using for its intended purpose to turn into the belt and chest symbol. She made the patterns, cut them out of the mat, spray painted them gold, and distressed them. She sort of kitbashed the whole thing to make the unique and spot-on ensemble. She explains:

It’s actually a modified body suit with corset with all sorts of random cut up elements. I pulled a bunch of clothing from my closet (anything that was black and leather-looking) cut then up, and pieced them together to make the costume. For example, top part of the jacket was actually a skirt from Forever 21. So no pattern, there was just a lot of different parts, kinda like a Frankenstein’s monster of a costume.

I always enjoy seeing this kind of resourcefulness — it inspires me to re-evaluate my entire closet.
