With over 10 different games, Final Fantasy offers a number of characters for cosplayers to pull inspiration from. Miguel Mercado and Jin decided to dress as Ignis and Noctis, respectively, from Final Fantasy XV. They worked on the cloth aspects of the costumes with friends, but Miguel and Jin tackled the wigs and accessories. I’m highlighting Miguel’s Ignis in this post because of the unique wig. Jin said they couldn’t find the right color of wig, so Jin came up with a solution:
I used acrylic paints to give the fibers a more ashy undertone, and color the roots darker for a more natural look. I followed Alyson Tabbitha’s wig dyeing process that you can see in her Lightning wig tutorial [linked below].
Base wig is Marty (Dark Ash Blonde) from Arda Wigs!
Jin added:
I would advise using decent quality acrylic paints with enough pigmentation, so you don’t have to put on so much paint to get the color to show. It’s still best to use as little paint as possible and really thin it down before applying. And once the paint is on the wig, remember to brush it out to distribute it properly and keep it from forming clumps around the fibers.
