How to Hack Your Clothing @TheHacktory in Philly #WearableWednesday #wearabletech #Arduino #Philly

Hack Clothing at The Hacktory Phila

Have you always wanted fashion that reacts to its environment or costumes that sparkle and beep? Come join me in Philadelphia for a one week bootcamp on wearable tech July 9th-13th at The Hacktory. We will dive into Adafruit’s plug and play Circuit Playground microcontroller, learning about its many built-in sensors and colorful ring of LEDs. The first half of the week we’ll be copying and pasting code for some fun effects, as well as learning some basics about code structure. Then, for the second part we’ll be designing our own wearables using fashions of choice. We’ll celebrate our completed work at a project night gathering among friends. The best part is that you don’t need to know code or sewing, and you don’t even have to touch a soldering iron. This microcontroller is easy-peazy! You need to be 16+ yrs. to attend and there are a few scholarships available thanks to a grant from StartupPHL. Artists, educators and members of underrepresented communities will have priority access. This is an opportunity for in-depth learning at a welcoming space without the university setting. So, sign up to come play and invent!
