Franchise Freedom Traveled to Burning Man 2018 #drone #droneday

From Studio Drift on YouTube:

Lonneke and Ralph of Studio Drift have always been fascinated with the concept of freedom. When is someone really free and should this be the ultimate goal? After carefully studying various phenomena in nature which indicate freedom, they were taken by starling swarms. The way they harmonious move together as a group is almost poetry. Now, after 10 years of research Studio Drift is able to perform swarm behaviour, with hundreds of luminous drones.

The performance at Burning Man was a tribute to visionary Larry Harvey, founder of Burning man, who challenged people to look at the world in a different way. With Franchise Freedom, Studio Drift wants to show how rules establish themselves automatically in order to maintain a community. The struggle between Burning Man (Freedom) and the default world (Group) is a perfect example. The artwork visualizes the illusion of freedom.
