In an age dictated by technology, the job landscape is changing ever-so dramatically. According to a recent report from McKinsey, automation could eliminate as many as 70 million U.S. jobs by 2030. A different study reported by the Education Commission shows that by the same 2030 benchmark, over half of the world’s young people won’t have the skills necessary to fill their future job roles based on the way that they are educated today. Clearly, the skills gap is a huge issue, but more importantly, Generation Z—the future of work—will suffer most.
Taking this problem into their own hands, high school teen leaders, Steven Li and Rahul Bavirisetty, who are 17 and 18 years old, respectively, started ProjectileX in April 2016, a youth business education nonprofit organization dedicated to closing the youth skills gap and empowering young entrepreneurs. ProjectileX has now impacted over 120,000 students globally and growing. The teens are determined to be the ones to impact their own demographic, “for youth, by youth.”
