We’re loving these festive builds from Steve, an educator and innovator, from Burleson, Texas. The above project features a Raspberry Pi 3 and some Adafruit gear.
Thanks for sharing, Steve!
I wanted to share a couple “Door Decorating Contest” entries I made for myself and my supervisor. We, all 2 of us, run the Burleson ISD Academic Innovation office, handing over 10 extracurricular programs during the school year.
In a show of knowledge, I threw everything I had at our two doors to try to take the top award.
My door features two cascaded open X-rail sliders from ServoCity, which make Frosty grow and melt depending on which button is pushed. I have 52 and 26 RPM motors driving the two elements.
My supervisor’s door features a RasPi3 driving a servo to make Frosty come to life, while a clip from the movie plays over a set of speakers in the ceiling. Frosty’s ligaments are connected by threaded rod and rod ends. The RasPi uses Adafruit components. Additionally, I have an LCD panel and LCD driver in my window showing my status in/out of the building, and below that, a set of Pictures Eyes.
Each Friday is PiDay here at Adafruit! Be sure to check out our posts, tutorials and new Raspberry Pi related products. Adafruit has the largest and best selection of Raspberry Pi accessories and all the code & tutorials to get you up and running in no time!
