What’s the Science Behind Why We Hiccup? #HumanBody

It feels like one of those questions a 4 year old would ask; but do you know the answer? Prior to reading through this article from Scientific American I would have mumbled through some answer involving your diaphragm.

We understand the mechanics of hiccups—they’re an involuntary reflex. But why does our brain send a signal to create that reflex in the first place? Scientists have tried to pin down a clear reason, but so far, we still don’t know.
