Bunky Echo-Hawk #NativeAmericanHeritageMonth #NAHM #AmericanIndianandAlaskaNativeHeritageMonth

Today we celebrate the work of Pawnee poet and artist Bunky Echo-Hawk, who works mostly in acrylic paint. Sadly, the artist’s daughter was killed in a car accident last month, wherein he was also injured (via Indian Country Day). Our thoughts are with his family and community.

Learn more about his work from Bunky Echo-Hawk: The Resistance from PBS.

Filmmaker Ben-Alex Dupris explores how the reality and resistance of Native Americans inspire the work of Pawnee artist Bunky Echo-Hawk, igniting discussions about environmentalism, Native rights, and numerous other current topics.
