Department of Classics Professor Karen nĂ Mheallaigh moderated the dialogue, in which Riess and Motion detailed the intertwining notions of math and language and how they interact and fit with another in a society tending toward science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). As disparate as the fields may seem, Riess and Motion argued, in reality, they act in synchrony as a vehicle for both scientific communication and poetic interpretation.
