Using a Raspberry Pi Pico to make a Keyboard & Gamepad – HackSpace Magazine Issue 78 @HackSpaceMag

HackSpace Magazine Issue 78 features building of a custom game controller using an RP2040 microcontroller programmed in CircuitPython:

There’s a sizeable community of DIY keyboard makers who have created some excellent and hackable keyboard firmware. The one
that we’ll be using is called KMK, and it is based on CircuitPython.

To use it, you first need to install CircuitPython on your Pico. To do this, head to circuitpython.org and download the latest version for Raspberry Pi Pico, then flash it to your device. You should find that when you plug in your Pico now, a USB drive
called ‘CircuitPython’ appears.
