Monty Python and the Holy Grail Backpack

monty-python-backpack-1

Halloween is the perfect time to show your love for Monty Python and the Holy Grail with a costume, and Instructables user thebrownie has a how-to that illustrates how easy it is to make a backpack worthy of Patsy. As long as you have access to branches to make the structure of the backpack, you’re all set — and if you can’t pick up sticks, there are always ways to modify PVC pipes and similar materials to make them look like wood. But! If you you use sticks, you can file in notches so they fit into each other like Lincoln Logs before you tie them together.

Once the backpack’s assembled, you can hand paint a flag (fabric the weight of muslin would work well for this) and start attaching other items that match or are close to what we see in the film. This includes an old leather bag, a basket and quiver, and weaponry. Since using real arrows (or any sort of actual weapons) is a terrible idea, use dowel rods to make faux arrows.

See a couple of photos showing off the backpack in pictures below and get complete instructions at Instructables.
