A Transformers Cosplayer Turned Her Craft Into a Hasbro Career

Pursuing your passion can become a career. That statement applies to about any field, but I’ve not read about it playing out in quite the same way as it did for Miru Shim. The above video shows off her design and construction for a Transformers costume. She made it from cardboard and it does indeed transform from a car into a robot. The intent was to get Hasbro’s attention, and they were impressed. Shim’s been working for them since 2014 in Design and Development for Transformers (she’s workng on the Cyberverse animated series and toys right now), but also other lines such as Furby and BabyAlive. She’s an associate product designer, so she’s putting her education from Rhode Island School of Design, Brown University, and the Pratt Institute to excellent use.

If you want to ask Shim questions about her work, you can do so on Hasbro Pulse’s Instagram.
