Building a 24 Frames Per Hour Movie Player with Raspberry Pi @Raspberry_Pi #PiDay #RaspberryPi

A couple years ago Bryan Boyer made a Very Slow Movie Player (VSMP) that would plaey Stanley Kubrick’s 2001 at 24 frames per hour — as opposed to the usual 24 frames per second. At that speed, it took about a year to play all of 2001. The docking scene above would play so slowly that someone glancing at it once might think the image was a photograph or still rather than a motion picture.

Now Tom Whitwell has made his own low-coast VSMP, powered by Raspberry Pi. Here’s more from Tom Whitwell:

Every few months since 2018, I’ve thought about Bryan’s essay and visited the e-paper department at Waveshare, a Shenzhen-based electronics retailer….

This is a relatively straightforward project. There’s no soldering and no hardcore coding. If you’re at all comfortable using a command line, and you’ve seen Python script before then you’ll be fine.

See project and learn more!
