Time and Spaced and Old Photographs in the Work of Carlo Alberto Rastelli #ArtTuesday

The body becomes a portal into deep space in the work of Carlo Alberto Rastelli. Reclaimed materials, found natural items, and space itself. Here’s more from BOOOOOOOM!

A collection of recent work by Milan-based painter Carlo Alberto Rastelli (previously featured here). The theme of time is explored both in terms of his choice of subjects and materials used, as Rastelli translates figures from old photos while incorporating elements like fir tree wood, that retains the marks of the passing years. Certain characters’ silhouettes also act as a kind of open window into the image, representing an archetypal idea of time, made up of stars, galaxies and black holes. See more images below!
