16×16 NeoPixel Square Pixel Display by @ecken #3DPrinting #CircuitPython

Build a square pixel display with a 16×16 NeoPixel matrix and black LED acrylic. Use a Feather and PropMaker FeatherWing to easily connect the display using a 3-pin JST cable. Make rainbows and LED animations using CircuitPython.

The frame, cover and grid diffuser are 3D printed with PLA filament. The black LED acrylic is cut using a PDF template.

The black LED acrylic is press fitted into the cover.

The 16×16 NeoPixel matrix is wired to the 5V, GND, and DIN pads with a 3-pin JST cable.

4x M2.5 x 6mm long standoffs are used to secure the FeatherWing Doubler to the frame.

The Doubler FeatherWing is seucred to the mounting holes on the 3d printed frame.

The 3D printed grid diffuser is placed over the 16×16 NeoPixel Matrix. Small cutouts are designed to fit over the resistors and capacitors that allow the flexible PCB to be flush with the grid diffuser.

The grid diffuser is press fitted into the frame.

The 3-pin JST cable passes through the 3d printed frame.

The frame is press fitted into the cover. The 3-pin JST cable plugs directly into the NeoPixel port on the PropMaker FeatherWing.

Optionally connect a battery to make the display portable, otherwise plug into USB-5V power supply.

Use the CircuitPython LED Animation library to animate all of those lovely NeoPixels.
