A bot with a winch, made with Raspberry Pi. It’s a project from Norbert Heinz via hackster.io
5 stepper motors with driver ICs, 3 standard servos and a Raspberry Pi result in a robot arm that can move in a 50x50x50cm box.
WinchBot is a robot arm hanging on the ceiling. To make it work you don’t have to cut all parts with high precision. It will work even if the parts of the frame are cut with a tolerance of +-3mm. It’s a nice machine to teach about the Pythagorean theorem and about transformation from cable length to XYZ coordinates.
