Padmé Amidala’s outfits in the Star Wars prequels are nothing short of works of art. Costume designer Trisha Biggar created amazing looks for her. The most recognizable Amidala is perhaps the queen look we see in The Phantom Menace. Cosplayer JediManda made a replica of the intricate costume and put tons of time adding every last painstaking detail. She started the build in April 2016 and only recently finished. That’s about nine months of work.
Manda started with the headpiece using Worbla and fabric paint before adding the structure for the giant M shaped hair pieces. The hair was made from four wigs. She says:
After the M was “haired” I started finishing up all the gold attachments. All are made from worbla sandwiched over 1/8″ craft form. Then formed with a heat gun to the shape I need. Applied fabric paint dots, lines, and squiggles then sprayed it gold! This took a lot of time too. Next I started the hanging columns from her headpiece. It’s basically upholstery foam that I rolled up and wrapped in red brocade.
