This Synthesizer was Designed to Make Music Production and Performance more Accessible for Folks with Hearing Impairments #piday #raspberrypi @Raspberry_Pi

Musical vibrations on a totally different level! From jtoda.one:

‘synesthiser’ is a digital synthesiser made for wave synthesis and playing music through vibration, in addition to sound.

Its main objective is to make music producing / performing more accessible for those who has a hearing impairment. By producing not only vibration, but also audible wave, it could widen the opportunity of desigining sound for the handicapped and non-handicapped people equally.

It has a circular top surface, and it senses pressure and rotation. Pressure determines the amplitude and modulation of the waveform. Whereas rotation changes the frequency.

The vibration comes from a transducer inside the unit. It is attached to the support layer inside the unit, thus resonating the whole exterior.

It mainly generates a low-frequency waves in order to make it feel more tactile, less harmonic.
