Saar Drimer, founder and operator of Boldport, has unified the Boldport Club with Boldport Studio under https://boldport.com/:
Boldport, now more formally than before, is made of Boldport Club, that you know, and Boldport Studio, where we do consulting work for clients. Before the Club, money came in from consulting. Then, the Club took over most of my time so the consulting side was pretty much inactive. Now that I’ve made changes to the Club I’m making the distinction between the two parts more prominent and taking more client work.
With that, Studio and Club are now on the same website. Check it out and let me know what you think and if you find any problems (best if you report it on our Discord #meta). The information for each Club project is now on its shop page; for example Stringy. The old links should lead to the right places. You can now make purchases as a guest or create a new account for easier purchasing and seeing your orders in one place. This is a new system; your old login credentials won’t work any longer.
Some dedicated Club members have asked me how they could contribute to keeping the Club going with new projects. There is some — legitimate, I must admit — concern about the Club’s future. I understand that I don’t share enough of my personal journey and much about what the future holds in order to allay these concerns. Part of it, I suppose, is that I like to show the results of my work rather than promise and ask for support. (My related objections to crowdfunding have been registered by some already.) I do have plans for new Club projects and ideas for other new things. Please bear with me until I’m ready for implementing those the right way and at the right time.
If you’d like to help, the best way is to purchase items from the shop. Stock is already paid for and it doesn’t take many orders to really make a difference with the financials. Now that the shop is open to all, helping spread the word will definitely help.
Leads for Boldport Studio client work would certainly be great help as well. If you know any company looking for wonderfully designed electronics with visual and usability elements please do point them to me, or me to them. Elements of client work does eventually lead to popular Club projects such as with The Matrix and LIGEMDIO.
I take your support, concerns, and kind words to heart. Thank you.
