Great wearable project utilizing a bunch of the Circuit Playground’s awesome features!
This project was inspired by self defense devices that are available to the everyday consumer. Many people may carry around pepper spray, a whistle, pocket knife, a sound alarm and other self defense devices that are out there. With the circuit board playground express (CPX), I decided to tinker around with some of its capabilities to create a device that could also be used for self defense.
The project that was created is what I call an “Emergency Watch”. The Emergency Watch takes advantage of the accelerometer that is incorporated into the CPX. The idea behind the watch is that a person who is using it will be able to wear this device where ever they go. All that a person has to do is turn on the switch, which will activate a ring of blue lights, indicating that it is on. If in danger, a person would just need to shake the watch on their wrist, back and forth, until the alarm sounds off with flashes of blue and red lights. This can be turned off with the switch, which will also reset it to its original state once turned on again.
