Thermoelectric chiller + peristaltic pump + 3D printed animatronic head + CRT video looper = Frosty the Drinkibot!
Donald Bell, of Maker Project Lab, recently built this excellent spin on my Chilled Drinkibot project Learn Guide to enter in the Cocktail Robotics Grand Challenge held at the DNA Lounge in San Francisco. Take a look at this Digi-Key video of the event:
I love how he put his own spin on this project — from the wooden enclosure, to the animatronic face that delivers the chilled beverage via a mouth tube (?!), to the Raspberry Pi-driven CRT video looper. Donald’s not just creative, he’s also great at documenting his builds. Here’s his photo journal of the project — take a look for lots behind-the-scenes details.
The guts of the project are a Trinket M0, coded in CircuitPython, peltier cooler, and perestaltic pump. Donald even created custom 3D printed clips to hold the pump tubes to his jigger and cup – great idea! He’s shared the Tinkercad model and details here.
