The drip pan in around my water heater in the basement had a fitting for a large PVC pipe coming out, but I needed to run a hose to my sump pump. I have no idea how much of a leak this will support, so I may be sorry about that but I designed an adapter so that I could use a garden hose.
There is a parametric bolt module in Blender that can be used to size bolts and nuts. You may want to make the adapter a bit thinner to fit your gasket-mine was a bit tight
