Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex is awesome for many reasons, most of which including the late Origa’s “Inner Universe” opening song and the animated and adorable Tachikoma robots. If you’re a fan of the show, there’s no doubt you’ve seen them and wanted to make one your very own. Who hasn’t?
Well, now you can…sort of. You can play with one at the very least, with the half-size interactive Tachikoma robot in the I.G. Store Tour Shop in Osaka’s Asia and Pacific Trade Center. If you download the special app by Karakuri Products that goes with it, the Virtual Agent Tachikoma app, you can interact with the adorable robot as you can see in the video below. Just look at its little arms!

A Tachikoma (Japanese: タチコマ?) is a fictional artificial intelligence, walker/roller in the Ghost in the Shell universe; appearing in the manga, created by Masamune Shirow, and the Stand Alone Complex sub-universe. Nine of them are assigned to Section 9’s use originally.[3] They are spider-like, multi-legged combat vehicles, equipped with artificial intelligence. The spider design appears in other places in Shirow’s work, like the Appleseed manga. Shirow is noted to keep numerous spiders as pets.
