Next time you want to attend an event where you need to make a point, these shades may be the perfect accessory. This matrix shade project includes some Bluetooth magic with a phone app that can use speech for text to create the scroll. The app can also run animation sequences, time/day, notifications and weather for the glasses. It’s a fun Arduino hack by students at Institut Sant Adreu, Spain. I’m sending big high-fives to David Bueno, Fabio Sabatino, Florin Catalin and Omar Musa for their awesome work. All I can say is if the students from this school are already doing this kind of work, I can’t wait to see what they do for their careers! If you are a STEM teacher wanting to do similar work with your class, you should check out our learning guide on Macetech RGB LED Shades. You can hack these glasses using our Adafruit Feather w/Bluefruit LE and a mic to get some fun effects, including controlling pixels with a cell phone and having them react to sound. I wish school had been this fun back in my day—go STEM!
