Maker Faire Bay Area 2017: Commute Deck RPi Workstation #makerfaire #raspberrypi

When you see a guy walking along at Maker Faire with this super-cool rig slung across his back you’ve got to stop him and ask all about it! This is Kerry Scharfglass and his hand-built, Raspberry Pi-based computer, The Commute Deck. He built this beautifully designed mobile workstation for coding on his daily train travels.
Kerry started by hand wiring the split mechanical keyboard switches with ribbon cable (fun!), and embedding a Raspberry Pi 2 and screen in a layered, laser cut enclosure. It’s all powered by a repurposed LiPo battery/charger system.
Here you can also see a conference badge PCB that Kerry is also working on, resting jauntily upon the super snazzy keyboard.  Great work on a wonderful project! The Commute Deck is among my favorite projects I’ve seen at the Faire.
