Create your own private social network with Home Berry Cloud #piday #raspberrypi @Raspberry_Pi

Thanks for Ron for sending in this tip! Ron writes:

This project involves configuring you Raspberry Pi to be a Raspberry Social web server and Raspberry Social sync hub for android devices. Raspberry Social is a “Facebook” type social application for close friends and family members. One of the things that is interesting about this project is that it shows how powerful the small Raspberry Pi 3 is by powering a small social network web site. Downloading a large picture or video will take a few seconds to process but other than that, the website response time is good.

This project allows you to create your own private social network by using a Raspberry Social app that runs on the Raspberry Pi and Raspberry Social apps running on Android devices. The steps involved include: setting up your Raspberry Pi, connecting your Raspberry Pi 3 up to your wireless router, setting up the Raspberry Social App on your Raspberry Pi, and installing the Raspberry Social App on your android device from Google Play. Both Raspberry Social Apps are free as of this writing.

The step-by-step Raspberry Pi installation instructions can be found under the Setup Guide tab at this web site:

The Android app that registers with the Raspberry Pi can be found on Google Play:
