Today is #GivingTuesday and we are extremely grateful for your continued support of our tech divas! We’ve set an ambitious goal of raising $75,000 today to help build our programs in a targeted 16 chapters in 2019 with an objective of reaching 10,000 students in one calendar yet. It will be our biggest and best year yet!
Launched in 2011, Black Girls CODE (BGC) is devoted to showing the world that black girls can code, and do so much more. By reaching out to the community through workshops and after school programs, Black Girls CODE introduces computer programming and technology to girls from underrepresented communities in technology areas such as web design, robotics, gaming, mobile app development and more.
Our Vision: To increase the number of women of color in the digital space by empowering girls of color ages 7 to 17 to become innovators in STEM fields, leaders in their communities, and builders of their own futures through exposure to computer science and technology. To provide African-American youth with the skills to occupy some of the 1.4 million computing job openings expected to be available in the U.S. by 2020, and to train 1 million girls by 2040.
