This is a center console tray (with coin tray) remix from jonco223’s design. The original design is great but I just have some pet peeves that I needed to modify…
The following are the modifications:
- Fix – The wall thickness below the coin tray is too thin for 0.4mm nozzle to print, I was getting a pin-hole in my original print.
- Fix – The step-down from the top ledge is rubbing against the center console cover. I recessed it back 10mm. This problem will show up if you plan on flocking the tray – the rubbing will rub off the flocking fibers and the paint.
- Mod – Added a partial opening in the front of the tray to allow cable or light to come thru from the bottom of the center console.
- Mod – Rounded out most of the straight edges in the tray as (and I’m still learning) sharp corners don’t stick to flocking fibers too well.

Every Thursday is #3dthursday here at Adafruit! The DIY 3D printing community has passion and dedication for making solid objects from digital models. Recently, we have noticed electronics projects integrated with 3D printed enclosures, brackets, and sculptures, so each Thursday we celebrate and highlight these bold pioneers!
Have you considered building a 3D project around an Arduino or other microcontroller? How about printing a bracket to mount your Raspberry Pi to the back of your HD monitor? And don’t forget the countless LED projects that are possible when you are modeling your projects in 3D!
