Vertical Stand for Raspberry Pi with Heat Sink Case #3DThursday #3DPrinting

Vertical Stand for Raspberry Pi with Heat Sink Case by SF3DPrint Thingiverse

Take some cues from game consoles for your Pi set up with this print shared by SFDPrint on Thingiverse:

The ribbed aluminum heatsink Raspberry Pi cases do a great job keeping a Pi cool. For those applications that don’t push the Pi heat load far enough to need a fan, this passive vertical stand/mount is a way to cradle the Pi while allowing air flow through the fins. The base spaces the Pi and case up a few millimeters to provide an air space and plenum below the Pi and clearance for the SD card. It seems to also drop CPU temperatures a few degrees since the fins are oriented vertically with the convection air flow.

This is sized for the Pi 4 with an aluminum heatsink case and a slight friction fit. Depending on your printer and layer squish, it may be tighter or looser on other printers. The base isn’t huge so might be better in applications light on wires though there is clearance for the side connectors.

Every Thursday is #3dthursday here at Adafruit! The DIY 3D printing community has passion and dedication for making solid objects from digital models. Recently, we have noticed electronics projects integrated with 3D printed enclosures, brackets, and sculptures, so each Thursday we celebrate and highlight these bold pioneers!

Have you considered building a 3D project around an Arduino or other microcontroller? How about printing a bracket to mount your Raspberry Pi to the back of your HD monitor? And don’t forget the countless LED projects that are possible when you are modeling your projects in 3D!
