Wonderful video from The British Library. William Blake has always been a fascinating figure, a true poet and artisan. His skillset was a rare combination of excellence – both his engravings and poems full of fiery, mythological imagery. It was also notable that controlled nearly every aspect of his work’s production, which is discussed in the above video. Blake’s story also provides a look at the reality of what it took to be an 18th Century living artist who was born to England’s middle class.
Michael Phillips demonstrates William Blake’s printing process, explaining how it relates to his work as a poet and artist.
