The folks at Prusa Research announced new features to the Printables.com website. They now have featured profiles for brands. The new official brand profiles are tricked out with a verified badge and custom banners. Highlights from the community is a new section that allows brands to showcase models from other users on their profile.
At Adafruit, we have over 200 hundred of our models posted on Printables.com Our recent LED noodle project, Raspbery Pi server build and Zelda Prop Sword was highlight in their announcement video and we’re excited to see them spotlighted.
Currently, it seems to automatically populate this section with models that we’ve liked. We’d love to have the ability to manually curate this section with makes of our models and new models and remixes of models that use our products. Hopefully this is something that can be implemented in future updates.
On our weekly 3D hangouts livestream, we’ve been featuring more and more makes from Printables on our Community Makes segment. We’ve noticed an uptick in makes and remixes which is a great sign that the community really enjoys using the Printables site. We’ve been posting our own makes of models too whenever we find a great model for our Timelapse Tuesday videos on YouTube.
Currently there’s 9 official brand profiles and they’re listed on a dedicated page on the Printables website. So if you’re a brand and interested in becoming a verified profile, you’ll want to reach out to brands@printables[dot]com.
For a few months, we’ve been talking with a couple of giants in their respective industries. We’re excited to announce the first brands to join Printables.com and share official 3D printable models for their customers, fans, and their community:
