When Hollywood puts characters like Marvel’s Thanos into films, they usually have to turn to a practical/CGI combo to make sure the character looks and moves like it does in the source material. Cosplayers don’t have that option (nor do they have to withstand scrutiny on big screens around the world), so Prizmatec Cosplay went big and large with their take on the Thanos. They focus on wearability and comfortability with costumes while they’re scaling up and use whatever materials best suit that purpose — it could be foam, cardboard, fiberglass, or anything in between. Thanos is just the latest in a long line of oversized builds they’ve worked on since 2012.
See some work in progress photos of the massive costume in this video — it’s quite remarkable to see the costume’s beginnings:
Prizmatec documents more of the build on YouTube and on Facebook.
