You just have to smile when you take a look at this project because it screams DIY and recycled parts. Found on Hackaday, this headset conversion by taifur takes advantage of the sun for energy and includes the modern touch of bluetooth. Here’s a list of the reclaimed parts that have been saved from e-waste:

• Wired headphones
• Control circuit from an old power bank
• Button pad from a DVD player
• Battery from a damaged MP4 player
• IDE ribbon cable from an old computer
• 2 LEDs from an old FM receiver

Don’t be scared off by the list of items you’ll need to recover, because taifur explains in detail how to take everything apart in his Instructable, right down to getting the keypad out of the DVD player. It’s a fun build that reminds me of every hackerspace I’ve ever visited, including the use of duct tape and hot glue.
