Tree Branch Spacer/Braiding Lock #3DThursday #3DPrinting

srios79 shares:

This disk is to replace the weak foam disks that usually come with braided plants/trees that you might buy at a nursery or plant store. My azalea branch kept falling out of it’s foam compartment, so I created one that is stronger to hold it in place with the other branches.

This 50mm disk and spacer locks can be printed without any supports. It has four areas that you can insert branches into for braiding or to add separation to the branches and allow air flow. Each spacer can hold a branch that is up to 8mm thick. If there is interest, I’ll create other disks with larger and/or smaller separators for branches that are thicker or thinner.

Every Thursday is #3dthursday here at Adafruit! The DIY 3D printing community has passion and dedication for making solid objects from digital models. Recently, we have noticed electronics projects integrated with 3D printed enclosures, brackets, and sculptures, so each Thursday we celebrate and highlight these bold pioneers!

Have you considered building a 3D project around an Arduino or other microcontroller? How about printing a bracket to mount your Raspberry Pi to the back of your HD monitor? And don’t forget the countless LED projects that are possible when you are modeling your projects in 3D!
